Medium Voltage Concentrator (USA Topology)
In MainNet's PLUS system, MvMCuPLUS is an MV/LV access concentrator unit that connects and transfers data over the electricity grid, from the backbone to the customer's premises – directly, or via repeaters. It is designed for US network topologies and is US standards-compliant. The MvMCuPLUS is housed in an IP67 compliant outdoor enclosure, which provides it with extended environmental protection. It can withstand heavy rain in outdoor installations, as well as flooding in underground installations.
MvMCuPLUS is a point-to-multi-point BPL/PLC communication unit, which may be installed in a medium-voltage or low-voltage transformer station, or at any other point on the electricity grid. The unit interfaces flexibly with any medium on the backbone side (whether fiber, copper, or wireless), and is also capable of bridging medium-voltage grids to low-voltage grids.
MvMCuPLUS — managed by MainNet's network management system NmPLUS — enables the use of multiple broadband powerline applications (such as, Smart Grid, SCADA Extension and Security & Surveillance) over a medium-voltage grid, as well as Broadband Communication services that include Internet, VoIP and Video.
