The first phone was basically just a receiver and transmitter – you had to hold it up to your ear like a megaphone to hear the other person. Nowadays, phones are a lot more advanced. We have smartphones that can do everything from sending text messages to surfing the internet. And we don’t have to hold them up to our ears anymore – we can use hands-free devices like Bluetooth headsets.

Before the printing press, books were handwritten, and each copy took a very long time to create. The printing press could make multiple copies of a book quickly and easily.
